Hello and welcome back! I am so glad you are here for another episode of our podcast. I love helping you figure out your big, small, and medium sized issues. And I love helping you build your team, and grow, and really acheive all your dreams.

So I had a topic picked for today but then, as usual, something came up that felt more important and that is what happened this week. So this week I want to talk about this thing called clarity.

Clarity is such a huge thing. Without clarity we feel lost and hopeless and scattered. With clarity we feel driven and powerful and this clarity allows us to connect to our people because we aren’t distracted by everything else in our world. We won’t five into that voice that tells you you can’t.

When you as a business leader have clarity your team will have more clarity. Instead of just telling people what to do and doling out orders your team will innately know what needs to be done. Putting big demands without priority on your employees creates a bottleneck where employees feel frustrated and overwhelmed.

Last night I was working with a client and their staff. We had been working for so long, creating a better experience for the staff. So many local businesses focus on the big picture of opening the business and then just hire staff to fill the area. This creates a staff that is overwhelmed and so task oriented they aren’t focusing on the customers and the overall experience.

As I was sitting at this meeting at the management team was complaining about tasks that weren’t getting done, and work that wasn’t being completed. I turned to the team and asked “what have you done to empower your staff and motivate them?” the management team was so confused by this. The staff weren’t doing their tasks resulting in them getting harped on, and at the same time the staff was looking for more pay.

What it comes back to is, where is that clarity. Ultimately, weather it is employees or the management team, you as the leader needs to be super clear about what the vision is and what needs to happen. This allows the management team to be clear with the staff, and then the staff knows exactly what they need and what needs to happen.

You want your team to be able to make decisions on their own, be creative, and solve problems. They can’t do that without clarity. Instead of just assigning tasks you are letting your team solve the problems on their own which creates learning and growth. Lastly, this allows your staff to find the purpose, what is the deeper purpose of the business and what is their purpose in the business. What unique strengths do they bring to the business.

It isn’t a matter of building the task, breaking up the tasks, and assigning things. It is about having everyone be a part of that planning and allowing them to understand what their part is in the greater whole. If you are the only person dictating everything you are stifling your employees, not allowing them to be creative, not allowing them to grow, and not allowing them to find their purpose.

Once you discover that these pieces work together, build off of individual strengths, and focus on how these strengths can work into the greater vision, then you will see growth and happier staff members.

Clarity is a game changer that truly allows you to grow to your potential.

Clarity goes both ways, you as a boss, need to understand what your staff needs too. I had a client who was giving bonuses and trying to build their business with monetary growth and instead seeing growth this boss was seeing motonony. Their employees were stuck because they didn’t have clarity on the vision and they weren’t being challenged. They knew that if they just showed up and went through the motions then they would get a bonus. By educating their employees they gave them freedom, because it wasn’t just about telling them what to do–it was working as a whole team to work toward their strengths.
