Listening to people tell me time and time again that they “don’t have time” to plan out their goals and work on the bigger picture of their business because they’re just so busy with other tasks is getting old. The truth of the matter is, unless you do take that time to reflect and figure out what your next best step is, you’ll always feel overwhelmed and stressed. In fact, this time of reflection will actually lead to you having more time for creativity and rest.
The reason entrepreneurs feel they don’t have time is because they are too caught up in the day-to-day busy work that isn’t getting them anywhere. They’re stuck in the state of familiarity and comfortability, but as we know, to grow, we must become uncomfortable. We must push ourselves into unknown territories if we want to get to a place of success that we’ve not yet been.
When we finally decide to make the decision to take that time and use it wisely, we get 3 things out of it: alignment, action, and achievement.
Having everybody and every piece of our business in alignment is crucial to any amount of success. Without it, the vision becomes lost in the everyday chaos and you begin to move backwards in terms of growth instead of forward. Get everyone involved in the grander picture and make sure they fully understand their roles in it and you will see things move more smoothly and efficiently.
Once we are in alignment, we can begin to take action. And not just any random actions, but inspired action. Don’t focus on busy work and daily functions that distract us from the real work that needs done. Instead, focus on the actions that align with your role in the business and moving it forward. When each person in your business is responsible and following through on their specific role, you can rest easy knowing you have time to work on the actions you need to take as a leader.
Achievement is the ultimate goal. Having the first two pieces, the alignment and action, get us on track towards that achievement. Everybody knows their role, is carrying it out to the best of their abilities, and is on a path towards sustainable growth and achieving goals you’ve set for the business.
Success doesn’t happen overnight, this I know. But with many small steps in the right direction instead of going in circles and remaining stagnant, the vision you have for your business will become clearer and clearer the more you take the time to reflect and work on it.
