Achieve Business Goals

The One Thing You Can Do To Build Momentum and Be Unstoppable

I sat in my office and looked at the wall filled with big sticky note papers, business blue-prints and a plethora of random ideas.  I kept thinking “if I just keep working I’ll get ahead and things will finally move forward” until at 2:00 AM I decided enough was enough.  I wasn’t gaining momentum and in fact I was losing clarity as to what I really needed to focus on. That was until I made a brave decision.  A decision to let go of random work, get clear on the vision I have for my business and finally take focused action and this one thing helped me to build the momentum I needed.

All progress begins with a brave decision that only YOU can make.

The truth is many entrepreneurs face this same battle…focusing on the wrong things and doing random work while feeling like they are driving around in circles with no clear idea where they are headed.  What I’ve learned over the years is that your success is not determined by the number of hours you put in but by the focus and perspective you put into those hours.

Running a business at times can have lots of excitement but it can also have times of putting out fires, experiencing overwhelm and feeling like your trapped and going in circles.  And if you’re not careful you’ll end up in the “zone of randomness” which leads to becoming a “me too” business, basing all your decisions on your current circumstances and burning out.

But guess what??  There is a remedy to this.  The one thing you can do to get out of the trap of constantly spinning your wheels and figuring out where to focus your time, energy and resources.  The remedy is to get super clear on where you want to go and what you want to do and let that be your guide.  Many people skip this part and end up overcomplicating things, losing their focus and letting anything and everything distract them.

And guess what, you can’t change the direction of a parked car, right?

Business like any other journey needs a GPS so you know where you’re starting and where you want to go.  Getting super clear on what’s important to you, what you want to do and where you want to go is the key to taking focused action.  Picking your “1 thing” that you want to focus on that will make the biggest difference first and prioritizing your work from there will help you focus on the right goals and the right actions every day.

And taking focused action every day builds momentum.

If you’d like to chat more about how to take focused action and what this looks like in your business, I’m hosting a Facebook Live chat tomorrow (Friday, August 17th) at 3:00 pm on my Facebook Page.

I’ll be there to chat about building momentum in our businesses with some stories of my own experiences and talk about the lessons I’m learning myself.  I also have some new exciting projects I’m working on and want to share with you first.

Regardless if we connect on Facebook tomorrow, please know I’m here for you to help you “unpark” your car and start driving in the right direction.

Keep shining your light!
Theresa
