Learn From Business Mistakes

From Failure to Launch and The Lessons Learned In Between

We’re going to get real for a minute….really real.

It’s inevitable that in business and in life there’s going to be struggle and setbacks.  It stinks when it happens but it’s inevitable.

Recently I had one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced in my business.  I’ve had things that haven’t worked, I’ve pivoted, heck I’ve even started a completely new business.  But recently, I had to face one of my biggest fears.

I decided I wanted to be able to reach more people to help them scale their business so I decided to launch an online training program.  The idea was to take what I do in the first 90 days working 1:1 with a business and put it into a “self-study” online training program. I got all of my content together, created an awesome campaign and launched it.  Hours, days and tons of work went into it and I could totally feel it that it was going to be awesome! I’ve seen the success my 1:1 clients were having and I was excited to launch it and be able to help many more businesses who have plateaued to increase their revenue.

BOOM….I launched to crickets…and that moment took me down.  I felt defeated and thought how am I ever going to recover from this…it’s a complete failure.

And then my mentor reminded me, failure is only how you frame it.  Failure is actually a chance to see something in a different way and to let something new emerge from it.  You wouldn’t necessarily have seen this new, great thing if all went according to YOUR plan. Maybe this is a chance for something better to happen?  Maybe I’m supposed to “zig” instead of “zag”?

So what did I do?  I surrendered and let go of what happened and I listened.  I took some time to reach out to my clients, to personally talk to my audience again to gather some golden nuggets of information.

It hit me.  It wasn’t the offer, it was how I packaged it.  I packaged it in a way that people wouldn’t have as much access to me and that’s actually what they really wanted.  This misstep gave me a chance to reframe things based on what people really needed instead of what I thought would work.  This mistake, this difficulty and this challenge in my business was actually a chance for me to build something even better, something a little different.

So the lessons I learned….

Failure is Only How You Frame It – Failure doesn’t mean that you “fail”.  So often I have clients tell me, “we tried it and it failed and things are never going to work”.  Guess what, it didn’t fail. It just didn’t go as planned. Instead of focusing on the fact that it didn’t work, take time to reflect on what happened and recognize the opportunity you have to make it better.

It’s Totally Ok To Pivot…It May Actually Lead to Something Better –Just because you have an idea and you start out one way, doesn’t mean that it will stay as it is.  It can grow and change and it’s up to you to continue to nurture it. So often I hear clients tell me, “we’ve done it this way for years and that’s what has worked so eventually it will work again, right”.  Well, not so much. It’s craziness to think that if you keep doing something that isn’t working that it will change and eventually work. Learning to pivot lead you to bigger and better things beyond what you could ever imagine for your business.  Who knows, maybe even a new business idea (I’ve seen that happen numerous times).

Always Believe In Your Ability to Figure Things Out and Get The Help You Need– When something doesn’t go right it doesn’t mean that “you’re not smart enough” and what you’re doing “isn’t good enough”.  You have all you need inside you already to figure things out you just need to believe in your vision and what you’re doing to help others.  And if you get stuck and need some help, find someone who can help you. We weren’t meant to wall ourselves up and never ask for help and we certainly weren’t meant to do this Entrepreneur gig alone.  Finding a mentor or a coach to help you see things a different way is valuable and from my own experience they keep us moving forward and laser focused on our vision.

So about this new offer…

What started out as what I believed was a “failure” turned into something amazing.  It gave me a chance to build something bigger and better for the exact people I’m trying to help.   I am launching a new Reboot Your Business, a 6 Week Small Business Intensive and I’m looking for some founding members to go on this journey with me.  During the 6 weeks we will dig in and create a plan that you will start implementing that will help you to focus your energy on the right things in your business and design a growth strategy that you can begin implementing immediately.  I’m only opening this open to a small group so spaces will be limited.

If you’re interested in being a founding member at a discounted rate and want to join me on this journey to redefining your business, growing your revenue and gaining more valuable time back in your day click this link to get on the “early bird” wait list and reserve your spot for when registration opens!
