In business and even life in general, the most valuable asset is one that you can never get back; Your time.
Every time you stop to chat, or take a meeting, or work on a specific task, you want to make sure that it’s going to be worth the time to do so. Each of the interactions throughout your day, whether it be with another person or not, is taking away some of your time that you only have a certain amount of. To waste that asset on something meaningless or that doesn’t serve you and the goals you have for your business and life would be tragic.
I always instruct my clients to make up a list. One that notes everything they do in a day, from the smallest of tasks to the largest. Once they jot it all down, I tell them to look back at it. Often enough, the lists they create consist mostly of things that can be delegated out to management teams or staff.
The problem with many business owners is that they tend to think if they don’t handle each individual task, it simply won’t get done (or won’t get done right). But if you play the long game from the start, the people you hire to work for you will only be people that you can trust to handle all these tasks. That way, you can have peace of mind that your business won’t fall apart without you there, and you can use that precious time to work on the bigger picture of growing a successful and sustainable business.
