Ever look at a FB post and think “I wish I were them” or “what am I doing wrong”.
I’ve learned as an entrepreneur (and yes I struggle with from time to time) is that we need stop comparing ourselves to other people. Someone once said, “When you see the Instagram or Facebook feed, you just see the live show.” You don’t see the practice, you don’t see the behind-the-scenes, or the production time that went into it.” Wow, did that hit me upside the head!
Don’t ever crave to be anyone other than just who you are.
For the longest time I would look at what this person or that person was doing, thinking I could never be enough. What I was forgetting is that, those people struggle too. If they didn’t, I’d be surprised. Those people have days when they don’t have have motivation, when they feel like crap, when they feel like just laying in the grass and looking at the sky. They are just trying to get through the day, just like everyone else, because they feel lousy, because a program they launched failed, because a customer dropped them. You don’t see that part in the social media feed but it’s there.
Focus on just being you and putting yourself and your message out there. What stopped me from “comparison-itis” is that I owed it to the many people that I could help with my gifts…even if it’s just one person at a time.
Stay laser focused on the difference you can make, no matter what you are doing. Don’t compare what you are doing to what is going on in so-and-so’s life, or the person who’s been in business for 15 years (or probably hustled their butt off to get where they are).
What I learned is that you can model yourself and study the people that you admire and honor, but ultimately, you have to be you. You have to be your own guru and stop comparing yourself to other people and be uniquely you!
