Episode 158 – Helping to Build The Community By Helping Others, An Interview with Lyell Scherline

Local business is what’s at the heart of every episode of the Your Next Best Step podcast, and this week, Theresa sits down with Lyell Scherline, owner of a little café called Jay’s Local in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

From the beginning of his adult life, Lyell dared to do things differently, and has carried that mindset well into his ventures as a business owner. He understands the importance of community, of caring for your neighbors so that they might want to return the favor when needed. Helping others is what builds that network of trust and acceptance within a community, and when your business reflects those values, people are going to notice.

When you open up shop, whether retail, restaurant, what-have-you, it’s never just about the product you sell or service that you provide. It’s about the people along the way that make it all possible.
